LOTTE Chemical Division-Ministry of Employment and Labor-Partners celebrate
the MOU on 『Coexistence and Cooperation Culture in the Petrochemical Industry』.
■ At Jamsil LOTTE World Tower in the afternoon of the 3rd, Minister Lee Jung Sik of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, CEO Lee Hun Ki of LOTTE Group Chemicals Division, and CEO Lee Dae Hee of Doobon, and CEO Han Dong Hoon of Woojin Copolymer gathered to sign and MOU on coexistence and cooperation culture in the petrochemical industry.
■ LOTTE Chemical-Ministry of Employment and Labor shared the idea that coexistence of the Ministry of Employment and Labor and large enterprises and their partners is the core foundation for the sustainable growth of petrochemical industry… Announced the first joint declaration in the industry in September 2023 and founded a council for coexistence to gather opinion and realize the MOU.

■ “This determination for coexistence will mark the milestone for another leap of Korea’s petrochemical industry in the global market,” said Minister Lee Jung Sik of Ministry of Employment and Labor. “At the end of this year, we will share the achievements and cases of coexistence with the participating companies to spread out our efforts as the leader of ESG.”
LOTTE Group Chemicals Division gathered with the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the leaders of partners at Jamsil LOTTE World Tower in the afternoon of the 3rd and hosted a ceremony for the MOU on 『Coexistence and Cooperation Culture in the Petrochemical Industry』.
In September last year, they shared the idea that coexistence between large companies and partners is the core foundation for the sustainable growth of petrochemical industry for the first time ever to announce a joint declaration and found a council for coexistence. For about nine months since then they gathered opinion from the field to establish a substantial agreement for coexistence.
The participants at the ceremony were CEO Lee Hun Ki of LOTTE Group Chemicals Division, CEO Hwang Jin Koo of LOTTE Chemical Basic Material Business, CEO Lee Young Jun of Advanced Materials Business, Minister Lee Jung Sik of Ministry of Employment and Labor, CEO Lee Dae Hee of Doobon, and CEO Han Dong Hoon of Woojin Copolymer. They engaged in “a new social conversation” for the sustainable joint growth and achievements of petrochemical industry to reflect and apply the characteristics of petrochemical industry.
LOTTE Chemical and LOTTE Group’s chemical affiliates are planning to establish and practice reasonable measures to support the foundation to improve the safety, welfare, and work conditions of workers of partners, construct the infrastructure of manpower, and secure productivity, expertise, and self-support capacities.
The partners will actively improve the workers’ work environment for coexistence and development and provide training to reinforce capabilities.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor will actively support the companies’ spontaneous efforts for coexistence in the petrochemical industry along with LOTTE Chemical and its partners.

“The petrochemical industry is currently facing hardships, but I suppose we will overcome the difficulties very soon,” said CEO Lee Dae Hee of Doobon, who represented the partners. “I am certain that the chemical industry will achieve our second leap with the cooperation and support of the government and enterprises.”
LOTTE Chemical earned the highest grade at the 2022 Win-Win Index and has operated and supported Win-Win Funds reaching 135 billion KRW to support the financial procurement and management stability of partners. Also, they are supporting overseas businesses and higher revenues of small/medium partners in Korea and promoting environmental seminars, disaster prevention consultation, and safety management facilities for them to consolidate safety cultures.
