European Recycling Class (RecyClass) Certification
for ‘PET CLEAR Material Packaging’

Various elements such as the material of the plastic, design, plastic type, labeling, etc. are evaluated for certification, and the recycling class is determined by verifying the recyclability and suitability according to the guidelines of the RecyClass program.
The packaging that applied LOTTE Chemical’s ‘PET CLEAR’ material was found to have no issues in recyclability in the PET recycling process, and thus received the final grading of ‘CLASS A’, which is the highest class given.
PET CLEAR has the same chemical makeup as regular PET and it is a high-value PET material with excellent recyclability and improved transparency. Based on its outstanding formability and eco-friendliness, it can replace transparent materials that are difficult to recycle in cosmetic product containers, electronic products, multiple-use containers, etc.
Responding to the recently elevated demand for recyclable eco-friendly materials of global cosmetic product brands and beverage companies, LOTTE Chemical launched the eco-friendly material named ‘PET CLEAR’ in 2022. Global cosmetic product companies are increasingly requesting certification from third-party institutes on recyclable materials and LOTTE Chemical acquired this certification in order to respond preemptively to this.
Meanwhile, LOTTE Chemical entered an MOU with PUMTECH Korea on the development and commercialization of cosmetic packaging products that apply eco-friendly materials for the construction of a plastic circulation platform in the cosmetic product market.
