Six LOTTE Chemical Products Selected for the 2021 World Class Product of Korea

World Class Product is an official certification program supervised by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and operated by KOTRA with the aim of procuring future export engines through the diversification and advancement of export items, while also strengthening corporate competitiveness. It is divided into ‘current world class products’ that are placed in the top 5 in terms of global market share and ‘next-generation world class products’ that have high possibility to become a world class product within the next seven years.

With these six new selections, LOTTE Chemical now has a total of 15 World Class Products, and it is supplying the said products to customers around the world based on the superiority of each product.

LOTTE Chemical products selected for the ‘2021 World Class Products of Korea’ were PC type water reducing admixture polyethylene glycol, CPE base powder HDPE, medical packaging PP product, polypropylene heat sealing resin, automobile ASA resin, and flame-resistant ABS resin, and they are all included in ‘current world class products.’

LOTTE Chemical’s medical packaging PP (polypropylene) is a safe product that passed biocompatibility tests, and it is widely used as disposable medical products and packaging materials. The medical plastic market is a specialty field with a high entrance barrier compared to common products due to its strict packaging, specification, and authorization procedures. As the demand for medical and hygienic products continue to grow because of the recent global COVID-19 pandemic, it is expected that market demand will also steadily increase.

PC type water reducing admixture polyethylene glycol is a main ingredient for water reducing agents, which is an additive for concrete mixtures. This is a construction specialty product that reduces water used for concrete while increasing intensity and durability, and can thus be used widely for construction.

CPE base powder HDPE is a product used for producing chlorinated polyethylene (CPE). CPE can be used as an additive or as a mixing resin when manufacturing PVC doors and windows, pipes, rubbers, and wires. It possesses various functions such as impact-resistance, flame-resistance, weather-resistance, and color stability, and is thus used widely for construction materials and home appliances.

Polypropylene heat sealing resin is a product with excellent transparency, shine, processability, as well as outstanding adhesiveness even in low temperatures. It is used for food and beverage packaging for which protecting the contents are important like cookies, bread, and instant noodle packaging films.

Automobile ASA resin has outstanding weather-resistance and it is featured by the fact that it can stably maintain color, shine and properties. The exterior and design can be maintained even when exposed to the external environment for long periods, and is thus used automobile exterior parts and non-stamping materials.

Flame-resistant ABS resin makes it easy to process with various colors and shapes, and it is a material that maintains the features of ABS having excellent impact-resistance and intensity, as well as flame-resistance. Generally, flame-resistant materials usually have inferior properties and processability compared to non-flame-resistant materials, but the LOTTE Chemical flame-resistant ABS is highlighted by minimizing declined properties due to flame-resistance, and is applied widely in electronic products.
